SWA Protection was founded with a purpose deeply rooted in the founders' extensive law enforcement experience, totaling over 50 years. Driven by a passion for problem-solving and a commitment to creating solutions for unique challenges, our founders have been at the forefront of active shooter training for two decades. Their expertise extends to developing specialized training systems for businesses and houses of worship, as well as providing executive and dignitary protection for over 25 years.

Having provided protection for former presidents, heads of state, congressmen, high-net-worth individuals, business executives, and other VIPs, our founders bring a wealth of practical knowledge and real-world experience to the forefront of our training programs.

BRETT L. SHARP

Co-Owner & CEO

A seasoned law enforcement professional with 26 years at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Brett has held diverse roles such as S.W.A.T. team member, Detective, Violent Crimes Task Force Sergeant, K-9 & Mounted Unit Commander, and Region 3 Domestic Security Task Force Commander. With extensive training in defensive tactics instruction, firearms instruction, vehicles in combat and dignitary protection convoy, counter-terrorism, and executive protection, Brett has served as a tactical leader in over 500 narcotics search warrants and arrest warrants. He has demonstrated his leadership in successful operations, including hostage rescues and executive protection. His collaboration with federal agencies underscores his prowess in law enforcement tactics and strategies.

JOEL A. WEEKS

Co-Owner and President

A 28-year veteran of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Joel has excelled in roles such as S.W.A.T. team member, task force sergeant, and field force executive officer. With a background as a master firearms instructor and high liability instructor, expertise in counter-terrorism, and experience as a tactical leader in over 500 narcotics search warrants, Joel has demonstrated his leadership in successful operations, including hostage rescues and executive protection. His collaboration with federal agencies underscores his prowess in law enforcement tactics and strategies.

OUR TEAM

DEAN GUELICH

Dean boasts a distinguished background rooted in formal training and a 32-year career dedicated to implementing security programs for government and commercial industries. With a commendable 14-year service as a US Navy SEAL, Dean showcases proven leadership and operational skills in planning and executing diverse land and maritime missions, along with comprehensive security training programs. His expertise encompasses site vulnerability assessments, threat scenario evaluations, physical and personnel security support, anti-terrorism/counter-terrorism strategy, and advanced marksmanship. Dean brings years of hands-on experience in providing dignitary and executive protection for high net worth individuals. His impactful contributions to projects have played a pivotal role in directly influencing the success of U.S. national security objectives.

JASON ROYAL

Jason proudly served in the United States Marine Corps before starting his 26 year career with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. He has a wealth of tactical experience with JSO while being a member of the S.W.A.T. team, K-9 Unit and Robbery Unit. Jason has attended several dignitary protection schools and has provided protection in the U.S. and overseas. As a decorated and high-performance law enforcement and World-wide Protective Specialist, he possesses practical expertise in commanding and guiding a canine partner for successful searches in high-threat situations. Jason excels in providing protective security across various missions, demonstrating proficiency in both mobile and static operations. His commitment is underscored by expert weapons qualifications, firearms instruction, defensive tactics instruction, and he holds WPS and PPS certifications. He also has an active DOD Secret Security Clearance.

DOUGLAS (TREY) F. OMAN, III

Trey boasts a distinguished 30-year career with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, currently serving as the S.W.A.T. team medic. Alongside his law enforcement role, Trey is an Adjunct Medical Instructor at Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ). He holds a comprehensive set of medical certifications, including Certified Tactical Medical Responder (IBSC, June 2021), Tactical Emergency Medical Support Instructor (TEMS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Instructor (NAEMT), National Registered Emergency Medical Technician, Florida Emergency Medical Technician, Basic Life Support Instructor (American Heart Association), and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (NAEMT). His extensive expertise underscores his commitment to both law enforcement and medical education, exemplifying a dedication to public service and safety.
